A new Wendy’s drive-thru restaurant is set to be built at The Quadrant in Wyberton after Boston Borough Council granted full planning permission for the development.
The scheme will see the construction of a single-storey restaurant featuring a drive-thru lane, takeaway facilities, customer parking, landscaping and associated external works on Site N, The Quadrant, off Coney Way. The application was approved by the council on 16 June.
The site sits within the rapidly expanding commercial area surrounding Boston United’s Jakemans Community Stadium and is close to existing businesses including Costa Coffee, Burger King, Greggs, the petrol filling station and EV charging hub.
Planning officers concluded the development would represent a sustainable expansion of economic activity within the borough and would complement the established commercial character of the area. The council’s report noted that the proposal was specifically designed to take advantage of its location adjacent to the A16, serving passing motorists and visitors to The Quadrant.
The application was submitted by Papas Hospitality Limited and attracted no objections from consultees or members of the public. Wyberton Parish Council, Lincolnshire County Council Highways, Environmental Health, the Environment Agency and the Black Sluice Internal Drainage Board all raised no objections to the scheme.
Council officers said the restaurant would integrate well with neighbouring developments and that there would be no unacceptable impacts on nearby residents, highways or flood risk, subject to a number of planning conditions.
The proposal follows the continued growth of The Quadrant, which has transformed over the past decade into one of Boston’s key commercial and leisure destinations. The wider development includes housing, retail units, hospitality businesses, a hotel, fuel station and Boston United’s stadium.
Jack Fairman, of Poyntons Consultancy, said: “We are delighted that Boston Borough Council has granted planning permission for this exciting new Wendy’s restaurant at The Quadrant. The development represents another significant investment into Boston and will further strengthen The Quadrant as a key destination for visitors, shoppers and local residents.
“The restaurant will create new employment opportunities, add to the area’s growing food and beverage offering and provide customers with another popular choice within this thriving commercial hub. We would like to thank the council officers, consultees and all parties involved in helping bring the project forward, and we look forward to seeing construction progress in due course.”
Construction is expected to commence once all pre-commencement planning conditions have been discharged, including the approval of a construction management plan and biodiversity requirements.
