A full road closure has now been implemented in Boston town centre following a burst water main earlier this morning.

The closure affects High Street between the John Adams Way junction and the Liquorpond Street junction while emergency repair works are carried out by Anglian Water.

The burst was first reported at around 7am today, with nearby residents and businesses experiencing low water pressure as engineers worked to locate and repair the damaged main.

Initially operating under temporary give-and-take traffic management, the situation has since escalated to a full road closure due to the scale and urgency of the repairs.

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area completely, with delays expected around the town centre throughout the remainder of the day and the remainder of the week, while repair works continue.

Anglian Water previously stated that it hopes to have water supplies restored and the issue resolved by approximately 6:30pm this evening, although this remains subject to change depending on conditions underground.

A spokesperson for the utility company said: “Our teams are currently carrying out a repair on a burst main in Boston. To keep everyone safe while we complete this essential work, we’ve had to close High Street. All being well, the repair will be completed by this evening & the road will be reopened by the end of next week.”

The works have been authorised through one.network under emergency Utility Repair and Maintenance permissions granted by Lincolnshire County Council.

Residents are encouraged to monitor Anglian Water’s official channels for further updates regarding both water supplies and road access.
