Boston Town celebrated the 60th anniversary of their first competitive game with a resounding win.
On that occasion in 1964, they lost to Lincoln United – but 60 years on they eased past struggling Deeping Rangers.
This game was a stark illustration of the gulf between the top and bottom of the United Counties League Premier North.
On Saturday, Martyn Bunce’s men were second best against leaders Eastwood – but on Bank Holiday Monday they swept aside Rangers with a first half goal blitz.
Jordan Nuttell started in place of Gregg Smith and headed home 2 fine goals, moving him to 9th in the club’s all-time goalscorers list with 68 – just ahead of Ian Shooter.
Fraser Bayliss is a place ahead of him in that list – he netted his 72nd for the club in first half stoppage time with a neat finish from a well-worked Liam Adams free-kick.
There was an impressive debut for new signing Josh Doran at left back – the only frustration of the afternoon was a late red card for skipper Richard Ford.
