Poyntons Consultancy is delighted to have been instrumental in the acquisition of a prominent Marsh Lane premises, now transformed into Elev8 Fitness — an ambitious new gym concept co-founded by well-known local businessman Vaughan Dent and Commonwealth Games gold medallist and professional boxing champion Callum ‘The One’ Johnson

Following an extensive search to secure the right site, Poyntons worked closely with the founders to identify and deliver a property capable of supporting their vision, a state-of-the-art, multi-disciplinary fitness facility designed to cater for everyone from first-time gym users through to elite-level athletes.

Now fully complete, Elev8 Fitness has been developed to an exceptional standard and will offer a comprehensive range of facilities, including premium strength and conditioning equipment as an official Hammer Strength training centre, dedicated boxing and combat zones, cardio and functional training areas, class and circuit spaces, as well as a coffee lounge and on-site treatment room.

At the heart of the project is a longer-term ambition to establish the Acorn Boxing Club, backed by long-time supporter Acorn Taxis, creating a dedicated space to develop local talent and build a strong boxing community within the town. The initiative reflects Callum’s desire to give back to the sport and create opportunities for the next generation of fighters.

The gym will officially open on Saturday 9th May, with a full programme of activity planned throughout the day in what promises to be a major community event. The launch will have a strong family open day feel, with free access, live demonstrations, competitions and opportunities to meet Vaughan, Callum and the team behind the project.

The official ceremony will take place at 3pm, with boxing personality ‘Big’ Joe Egan — former sparring partner of Mike Tyson — set to cut the ribbon.

Speaking ahead of the opening, Callum Johnson said: “This is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. It’s about giving something back to the town and creating a place where people can come and push themselves, no matter their level.

We’ve built a facility that I genuinely believe is right up there with anything you’ll find elsewhere. Whether it’s young people starting out, or serious athletes chasing their goals, this is a place where people can improve, stay disciplined and be part of something positive.

If it helps produce even a few future champions, then that’s a bonus, but for me it’s about giving everyone that opportunity.”

Co-founder Vaughan Dent added: “It’s been a serious effort getting this over the line, I don’t think I’ve slept properly for months. We’ve had nights where we’ve been here round the clock just to make sure everything is exactly how we want it.

It’s been a proper family effort as well, not just mine, but Callum’s too. Three generations of us, all pitching in to help bring it to life, which says everything about how much this means to us. Family is right at the heart of what we’re building here.

Seeing it now, and knowing what it’s going to bring to Boston, makes it all worthwhile. We’re incredibly proud of it and can’t wait for people to come and experience it.”

The opening will also feature a number of local businesses and partners, creating a lively, festival-style atmosphere across the site. Food and refreshments will be available from popular local favourites including Sushi Crush and The Dog & Jacket, while a packed programme of demonstrations, activities and competitions will run throughout the day.

With free access, a chance to meet Vaughan, Callum and the team, and something for everyone, the launch is set to be a real community celebration.

Jack Fairman, of Poyntons Consultancy, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have been involved in helping Vaughan and Callum secure the right premises for this project. From the outset, it was clear this was going to be something special.

Elev8 Fitness is a fantastic addition to Boston, not just in terms of the quality of the facility, but the wider impact it will have in bringing people together through fitness, sport and community. What they have achieved is quite incredible.”

Originally marketed as a workshop and yard, the Marsh Lane property attracted strong interest due to its scale and accessibility. Through a proactive and targeted approach, Poyntons successfully identified an occupier capable of completely reimagining the space.

The transformation into Elev8 Fitness stands as a powerful example of how the right vision, matched with the right property, can deliver something truly exceptional for the town.
