Morning commuters faced significant disruption earlier today, after a van caught fire near to Liquorpond Street Roundabout in Boston.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue confirmed that a crew from Boston Fire Station was called to reports of a vehicle fire on the A16 Spalding Road, opposite Boston Blinds, during the peak morning rush.
Firefighters attended the scene and used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and small tools to bring the blaze under control. The incident caused delays in the surrounding area as emergency services worked to make the scene safe.
Once the fire had been extinguished, the incident was handed over to Lincolnshire Police, who managed recovery of the vehicle and implemented traffic control measures to ease congestion.
The vehicle was later recovered by local recovery specialist Starky’s Recovery.
The cause of the fire has been identified as an unknown electrical fault within the engine compartment.
Motorists experienced delays around the town while the incident was dealt with, with traffic returning to normal later in the morning.
