13.45 - Original Story

Boston High School has been placed into lockdown this afternoon, with the school confirming it is following advice from the emergency services.

In an urgent communication sent to parents and carers, Boston High School said it was “experiencing a lockdown situation” and reassured families that it was doing everything possible to ensure the safety of pupils.

Parents have been specifically asked not to contact the school or attempt to access the school site, with telephone lines needing to remain available for communication with the emergency services.

The school said: “Please be assured we understand your concern for your child, and we are doing everything possible to ensure their safety, as our highest priority.”

Students have also been asked to switch their mobile phones off during the lockdown. The school has told parents not to be concerned if their child does not answer calls, adding that parents of any students who are ill or injured would be contacted first.

The nature of the incident which has prompted the lockdown has not yet been confirmed, and Boston VIBE will not speculate while the situation remains ongoing.

Lincolnshire Police and Boston High School have both been contacted by Boston VIBE for further information and an official statement.

This is a breaking news story and will be updated as further confirmed information becomes available.
