Firefighters were called to a grass fire along the River Haven in Boston on Thursday evening (16th April), after flames broke out on the riverbank near Leyland Way.
A crew from Boston Fire Station was mobilised to the scene at 6:36pm, where the fire had taken hold on the grass edging of the public footpath at the end of Leyland Way.
Upon arrival, crews found the fire had already been extinguished thanks to quick-thinking intervention from a Port of Boston tugboat, which used a water cannon to put out the blaze.
The fire is believed to have affected approximately 40 square metres of grassland.
Firefighters remained at the scene to ensure the area was fully safe, using beaters to damp down any remaining hot spots and prevent the risk of re-ignition.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
There are no reports of any injuries, and the incident was brought under control swiftly with assistance from those on the water.
