Over 100 vehicles joined forces earlier today (Saturday 21st December) for the annual Christmas Convoy, travelling from Sutton Bridge to Pilgrim Hospital in Boston to deliver presents to the children’s ward. Organised by Shaun Finnemore and Diane Ranshaw, this much-loved event has become a festive tradition in Lincolnshire, bringing communities together to spread joy and generosity during the holiday season.
Vehicles of all shapes and sizes participated, each adorned with dazzling Christmas lights, colorful displays, and festive decorations. The convoy began in Sutton Bridge, visiting Long Sutton, Holbeach, Sutterton, Kirton, and Wyberton along the way. A special visit was made to Avocet House Care Home, where residents enjoyed the vibrant spectacle, before the convoy passed through Boston’s historic Market Place, cheered on by delighted crowds. The convoy culminated at Pilgrim Hospital, where the gifts were delivered to the children’s ward, before concluding at Boston United’s Jakemans Community Stadium.
The event featured vehicles from Mason Bros. Transport, LA Green Haulage, Starkys Transportation, CJ Bolland Haulage, Agritech, and many more. Their participation showcased the strength of local support and the shared commitment to spreading festive cheer.
In a joint statement, organisers Shaun Finnemore and Diane Ranshaw said: “The Christmas Convoy is a highlight of the year for so many people, and we are overwhelmed by the incredible turnout once again. Over 100 beautifully decorated vehicles took part, lighting up the route and bringing smiles to everyone along the way. We’re so grateful to all the participants, the local businesses that supported us, and the traffic marshals who worked tirelessly to ensure the event ran smoothly. Visiting Avocet House and delivering gifts to the children at Pilgrim Hospital remind us all of the importance of community and giving during the festive season.”
The organisers also acknowledged the disruption caused by the convoy and offered their apologies “We appreciate that the size of the convoy may have caused some delays, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience. However, we hope that the joy it brought to local residents, especially the children and families at Pilgrim Hospital, demonstrates the positive impact of the event.”
Now in its third year, the Christmas Convoy has become an annual tradition, growing bigger and brighter each year. Lincolnshire Vanlife and the Lincolnshire Low-Life Car Club hope to continue spreading festive cheer and supporting local causes for years to come.
