Schools from across the town all joined at the towns war memorial over the weekend to commemorate and remember the lives of the fallen who sacrificed their lives for our country.

Students and staff from Boston High School, Boston Grammar School, Giles Academy, St. Nicholas Academy, Boston Pioneers Academy, Tower Road Academy, Boston Endeavour Academy, Wyberton Primary Academy, Frithville Primary School, Holy Trinity Preschool among others, joined business representatives, the Worshipful Mayor of Boston, Councillor Helen Staples and Reverend David Stephenson for a two minute silence this morning, with the Last Post and Reville played by The Salvation Army.

The Worshipful Mayor of Boston, Councillor Helen Staples said: “As we reflect on the recent remembrance service and parade, I am deeply moved by the community’s heartfelt participation. Their presence and support honour the memory of those who have served and sacrificed for our country. It was a poignant reminder of our shared history and the strength of our community spirit. Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to making this event so meaningful. Together, we ensure that the legacyof our heroes lives on.”

Andrew Welch, Chairman of Boston & District Branch of the Royal British Legion said: “The 2024 Poppy Appeal and Remembrance events have been great successes from beginning to end, and its been wonderful to see so many people, especially younger generations engaging in this years events. The Boston Branch of the Royal British Legion would like to thank all those involved in the collection, shops, businesses, schools, colleges, supermarkets, cadets, scouts and the marvellous public for all their support this year.”

Students from Boston College reflected on the lives sacrificed during a two minute silence in the centre of the college’s campus, this morning.
