Motorists, bus passengers and local residents are being advised of significant disruption following a burst water main on London Road in Boston.

The incident, which was reported to Anglian Water yesterday, has resulted in a full road closure on the B1397 London Road between Delfield Road and the ATS Euromaster roundabout on the A16.

According to traffic management information published on One.Network, the closure was implemented at approximately 3.22pm on Wednesday 3 June and is currently scheduled to remain in place until 11.59pm on Tuesday 9 June while repair works are carried out.

The closure is affecting traffic travelling into and out of Boston via one of the town’s busiest routes, with drivers being urged to seek alternative routes where possible.

Public transport services have also been impacted.

Brylaine Travel has confirmed that several services are unable to serve the affected section of London Road, including the B3/X, G68 and B20 routes.

A spokesperson for Brylaine Travel said: “We are unable to serve the B1397 from the Delfield Road to the ATS A16 roundabout due to a burst water main.

“The B3/X, G68 and B20 will divert through the Quadrant inbound and outbound.”

Passengers normally using bus stops within the closure area are being advised to use alternative stops at Delfield Road, The Quadrant, Middecott Close on Old London Road, or The Range.

The operator has also issued a safety reminder to passengers crossing the busy A16.

“We ask all passengers to ensure they use the pedestrian crossing if traversing across the A16. Parents, please advise students the same.”

The extent of the damage to the water main has not yet been confirmed, although repair crews are expected to remain on site over the coming days.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time for journeys, particularly during peak periods, as traffic diverts around the closure.

Residents and businesses in the area may also experience disruption while the repairs are completed.

Anyone travelling through the area is encouraged to check for the latest travel updates before setting off.
