An 86-year-old woman is believed to have died following a house fire in Swineshead, with police now appealing for help to trace her next of kin.
Emergency services were called to a property on Bullen’s Lane, Swineshead, at around 5.37pm on Monday, 7 September, following reports of a fire.
A woman in her 80s was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
Lincolnshire Police believe the deceased to be the 86-year-old woman who lived at the property, although formal identification has not yet taken place.
Despite extensive enquiries, officers have so far been unable to locate any of the woman’s next of kin and are now asking members of the public for assistance.
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We are asking for the public’s help in locating this woman’s family members. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could help us trace her relatives and ensure they are informed of her passing.”
Officers are working alongside Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire, with the investigation continuing.
Mark Baxter, chief fire officer at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “Three crews from Kirton, Boston and Sleaford responded to reports of a fire on Bullen’s Lane, Swineshead, at 17:28 on Monday 7 September.
“Upon arrival, our firefighters were met with a well-developed fire in the roof space and reports of an individual in the building.
“Despite the best efforts of our crews a woman was sadly found unresponsive on the scene.
“Our thoughts and condolences go out to all those affected by this loss, and we will ensure our firefighters who responded to this tragic incident have the support they need.”
“A joint investigation has determined that the fire started as the result of an electrical fault within the property.”
Police officers will remain at the property while enquiries are carried out.
