West End Road in Wyberton has been closed today after a sinkhole appeared in the road over the weekend.
Lincolnshire County Council has put the closure in place between London Road and the junction with Chain Bridge Road, this closure is now live and will remain in place until the repairs are complete to keep road users safe.
The closure is also affecting access to:
-
Tytton Lane East
-
Wyberton West Road
-
Five House Lane
Traffic from these roads is currently being directed to exit via Chain Bridge Road and the A52.
A signed diversion route is in place via: B1391 Ralphs Lane / B1392 Holmes Road / A52 and vice versa.
Drivers are asked to follow the diversion signage and allow extra time for their journeys.
At this stage, it’s too early to say how long the road will need to remain closed, but the authorities Highways department are onsite and will be gathering the information needed to assess the situation, arranging for specialist engineers to attend the site – planning the necessary investigation work before repairs can begin.
Lincolnshire County Council would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while this issue is being dealt with.
“We’re confident that this more collaborative approach will do a better job of helping those who need it and will allow the council and its partners to successfully deal with the ever-growing demand for services, even at a time of ongoing financial pressures.”
