A once-tired salon in the heart of Kirton has been given a striking new lease of life, emerging from a full-scale renovation as the sleek and modern London Rd Salon.
The transformation follows the purchase of the building by local entrepreneur and serving soldier Dale, alongside his wife Kaci, who recognised the space’s untapped potential. What followed was a complete top-to-bottom overhaul, transforming the former “The Salon” into a contemporary hub for independent hair and beauty professionals.
Every element of the building has been reimagined. Extensive upgrades include new electrics, plumbing, insulation, and full air conditioning, complemented by fresh flooring, modern lighting, and bold new signage. Inside, clients are welcomed by stylish chairs, upgraded basins, and professional-grade equipment designed to rival high-end city salons.
Beyond its physical transformation, London Rd Salon represents a shift in how local beauty businesses can operate. The space is now home to a collective of self-employed professionals: stylists and mother-and-daughter duo Eva (Eva’s Hair) and Ellie (Ellie Sarah Hair Co.), barber Julie (London Rd Barber), and beautician Leonie (Beauty by Leonie Jasmine). Each has made the transition from employment to running their own micro-business within the salon, an increasingly popular model that blends independence with a sense of community.
Dale shared the vision behind the project: “We could see how much potential the building had, but it lacked investment. During the purchase we promised the staff we would create a ‘London salon vibe’ without silly London prices.”
That promise appears to have been realised. The salon’s aesthetic combines clean, modern design with a warm, welcoming atmosphere, bringing a touch of city sophistication to the area, without the premium price tag often associated with it.
