Six dedicated colleagues from Asda’s Boston store are preparing to take on one of the UK’s toughest walking challenges this summer – all in support of a cause close to many hearts, Asda’s Tickled Pink breast cancer campaign.
On Thursday, June 4th, the team will set out from North Yorkshire’s Horton-in-Ribblesdale at 6:00am to tackle the formidable Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Covering an incredible 24 miles and climbing more than 5,000 feet, the route takes in the towering peaks of Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent. The demanding trek must be completed within a single day, testing both physical endurance and mental resilience.
Representing the Lister Way supermarket are store manager Sam Johnson, online manager Nicole Mason, fresh food manager Charlie Harrison, fresh food team leader Callum Troop, night manager Tyler Wilcox, and shopfloor colleague Bartosz Jasik. Together, they will join colleagues from across the wider Asda family – including head office teams, depots, stores and suppliers – in a nationwide effort to raise funds for Asda’s Tickled Pink campaign.
While the challenge is widely regarded as one of the UK’s most gruelling charity hikes, the Boston team is embracing it with determination and community spirit. Months of preparation, training and planning are already underway as they gear up for the long day ahead.
Sam Johnson explained: “This is going to be a tough but incredibly rewarding experience. It’s not something you can take lightly. We’re putting in the effort now to make sure we’re ready both physically and mentally. I’m proud to be part of a team supporting Tickled Pink, especially as the partnership celebrates 30 years in 2026. The work it funds, from groundbreaking research to vital support services, makes a real difference to people’s lives.”
The Tickled Pink campaign supports leading charities Breast Cancer Now and CoppaFeel!, helping to fund life-saving research, provide essential care, and promote awareness about the importance of regular checking. The initiative, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2026, aims to make checking your body – boobs, pecs or chest – as routine as the weekly Asda shop, helping to detect signs early and save lives.
Charlie Harrison added: “At Asda, we care deeply about the communities we serve. Taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks is our way of doing something meaningful. Raising awareness and helping to reduce the impact of breast cancer across the UK.”
For Nicole Mason, this year’s challenge holds particular significance, having previously tackled the challenge in difficult conditions. “Last year, we pushed through some really tough weather, but it was all worth it for such an important cause,” she said. “It shows just how challenging this event is, but also how rewarding. We’re hoping for better weather this time. Whatever happens, we’ll keep going. Breast cancer affects so many people, and we’re proud to do our part in supporting the fight against it.”
Asda’s commitment to charitable work and community support is evident all year round, with colleagues and customers coming together through fundraising events, in-store initiatives and awareness campaigns. From special product ranges to eye-catching, pink-themed promotions during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the retailer continues to inspire collective action across the country.
The Boston team’s efforts are a shining example of that commitment in action, demonstrating not only the strength of community spirit, but also the willingness to go the extra mile (quite literally) for a vital cause.
Anyone wishing to donate to the group is encouraged to show their support and help the team reach their fundraising target via their JustGiving page:
