Lincolnshire Police have renewed an appeal for information following a fatal collision involving a motorcycle and a car in the Boston area in 2024, as new evidence emerges in the ongoing investigation.

The incident took place on Horncastle Road, at the junction of Pilley’s Lane and Rawsons Lane, at approximately 2.50pm on 29 April 2024. A 62-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life as a result of the collision.

Officers have confirmed that the investigation has remained active since the incident, with detectives continuing to explore multiple lines of enquiry in a bid to provide answers for the victim’s family.

As part of these enquiries, new information has recently come to light, including details of a previously unidentified vehicle. A witness has now reported seeing a yellow Ford Transit-style van in the area shortly before the collision occurred.

Investigators are now urgently seeking to identify the driver of this van, or anyone who may have seen it travelling along Horncastle Road at the time.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said:
“We know this incident happened some time ago, but we remain committed to pursuing every available lead. Even the smallest piece of information could prove vital in helping us understand exactly what happened that day.”

In a further development, police confirmed that David Smith, 74, of Horbling Lane, Stickney, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and is due to stand trial in July.

Anyone who may have information that could assist the investigation is urged to contact police by emailing SCIUInvestigators@lincs.police.uk, quoting incident number 243 of 29/04/24.

Officers continue to appeal to the public to come forward, stressing that new information — no matter how minor it may seem — could be crucial in progressing the case.
