A major milestone in the regeneration of Boston’s Rosegarth Square has been reached, as Boston Borough Council has officially granted full planning permission for a new three-storey integrated health and care centre.
The scheme, submitted by NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board, will see the relocation of the existing Liquorpond Street doctors’ surgery and pharmacy to a modern, purpose-built facility on Rosegarth Street (PE21 8QE).
Designed by Healthcare Design of Lutterworth, the new building will bring together a range of essential services under one roof, providing improved access to healthcare for residents in and around the town centre. The integrated facility forms a key part of the wider Rosegarth Square regeneration project, aimed at revitalising the area and improving local infrastructure.
The development includes plans for dedicated ambulance and delivery access, extensive parking provision, and flood resilience measures, with construction required to meet strict environmental and archaeological conditions set out by the local authority.
A spokesperson for the South & East Lincolnshire Councils Partnership said the approval marks “a significant step forward in modernising Boston’s health provision while contributing to the town’s long-term regeneration ambitions.”
Work must begin within three years, with the NHS expected to finalise construction management and biodiversity plans before breaking ground.
The new health and care centre is anticipated to enhance both primary and community care access in Boston, supporting future population growth and ensuring local patients receive services in a state-of-the-art environment.
