Cllr Helen Staples has thanked the community of Boston for supporting her chosen charities during her time as Mayor.

Cllr Staples has now presented £1,500 to:

  • Local Hope – who champion causes that mean a lot to the community. They will use this donation to have a mural painted along the wall of a ward in Pilgrim Hospital to brighten the days of staff, patients and visitors.
  • Boston Gateway – supports adults with learning disabilities, this donation will be used to take them on an outing.
  • Boston Framework and Floating support Team – a charity that supports the homeless within the Borough of Boston and, as the name suggests, builds a framework around them to help rebuild their lives.

Fundraising in today’s economic climate is difficult, so Cllr Staples is extremely grateful to those who attended her fund raising events and gave so generously.

She said: “To have raised £4,500 would not have been possible without the amazing support of Jennifer Oglesbee who was Mayoress, Suzanne and Jade Welberry who were Deputy Mayor and Mayoress and current Mayor Cllr Barrie Pierpoint, they worked tirelessly and l cannot thank them enough.

“It was a great honour and privilege for Jennifer and l to be Mayor and Mayoress we had a very special and memorable year. It was wonderful for us to meet so many people who work so hard for the benefit of others within the borough of Boston, they reinforced to me that they are the backbone of our community.

“Once again heartfelt thanks to everyone who gave their support.”
