Visitors heading into Boston for the Tour of Britain tomorrow will be able to take advantage of free parking across a number of town centre car parks.
Boston Borough Council has confirmed it will offer free parking throughout Thursday, 3 September, to help residents, visitors and local businesses enjoy the major cycling event as it passes through the town.
Free parking will be available from 12.01am until 11.59pm, with motorists not required to obtain a ticket at participating council-operated off-street car parks.
The free parking offer will be available at Botolph Street, Doughty Quay, West End, St George’s Road, Artillery Row, Maud Street, Victoria Place, Staniland, George Street, Spayne Road and Tunnard Street.
However, several car parks will be closed to allow the Tour of Britain to take place. These are Bargate Green, Custom House Quay, Cattle Market and Buoy Yard.
Motorists should also be aware that normal parking charges will remain in place at a number of on-street locations, including Pump Square, Market Place, South Square, Station Approach and Wide Bargate.
All other usual parking restrictions will continue to apply throughout the day, including the requirement for vehicles to be parked within designated bays.
The free parking initiative is aimed at making it easier for people to head into Boston, enjoy the atmosphere surrounding the Tour of Britain and support town centre businesses while the race is in the area.
The Tour of Britain arrives in Boston on Thursday, with the event expected to bring spectators into the town to watch some of the world’s leading professional cyclists in action.
