A family has been left with nothing after a devastating house fire engulfed their home on Revesby Avenue in Boston on Tuesday evening (14 April).

The blaze has had a devastating impact on the occupants, with Lucy Maddison and her children losing nearly all of their belongings. It is understood that clothing, furniture, and personal items in both Lucy’s bedroom and the children’s rooms have been either destroyed by fire or left soaked and heavily smoke-damaged.

At present, the family are left with only the clothes they were wearing at the time of the incident.

A local appeal has now been launched to support the family during this difficult time. Donations of clothing, essential items, and financial contributions are being welcomed by friends and members of the community.

Those wishing to help are encouraged to contact Lucy Maddison or Kim Dunworth directly via Facebook.

Despite the circumstances, the incident has already prompted an outpouring of support locally, highlighting the strength of the Boston community in times of need.

Emergency services were called to the domestic property following reports of a blaze at 19:18 on Tuesday night. Three fire appliances, including 2 from Boston Fire Station and 1 from Kirton Fire Station attended the scene, with firefighters using breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to bring the fire under control.

The fire caused significant damage to a first-floor bedroom, with smoke and water damage affecting other areas of the home. Investigations have since concluded that the cause of the fire was an unattended candle.

Fire crews are now urging the public to take extra care when using candles, reminding residents never to leave them burning unattended, to place them in suitable holders on heat-resistant surfaces, and to ensure they are fully extinguished before leaving a room.
