A major food producer with strong roots in Boston is celebrating National Nutrition Month by heading out into the community to share a healthier take on dessert.
Greenyard Frozen UK, which operates a site on Marsh Lane in Boston, is currently visiting local organisations, businesses and community groups, handing out samples of its fruit and vegetable gelatos while encouraging people to make healthier food choices.
The initiative comes after the wider Greenyard group recently celebrated its 40th anniversary, marking more than four decades of supplying high-quality fruit and vegetables across Europe and beyond. Today, the international company operates across three divisions, Fresh, Frozen and Prepared, with more than 50 locations across Europe and a further seven sites in South America.
The Boston facility has a long history within the town’s food industry. For many years the Marsh Lane site processed fresh frozen vegetables, primarily peas, under the Padley name before being taken over by Pinguin in 2007. The business later became part of the Greenyard group and continues to play a role in the company’s frozen food operations.
As part of its National Nutrition Month campaign, the Greenyard Frozen team is visiting local businesses, clubs, schools, nursing homes and community groups, offering samples and sharing simple ideas about how frozen fruit and vegetables can help people incorporate more nutritious foods into their daily diets.
A spokesperson for Greenyard Frozen said: “National Nutrition Month is a fantastic opportunity to start conversations about healthy eating in a fun and approachable way. Our fruit and vegetable gelatos show that making nutritious choices doesn’t mean sacrificing flavour.
“We’re really enjoying getting out into the community, meeting people and sharing ideas on how frozen fruit and vegetables can make it easier to eat well every day.”
Organisations interested in arranging a visit from the Greenyard team can contact Laura.Dixon@greenyardfrozen.co.uk to organise a stop on the tour.
The company says the initiative is designed to encourage people to make small, practical changes that support healthier lifestyles, while enjoying a refreshing treat along the way.
