Police Update – 17:00

A male involved in this mornings collision on Sibsey Road has died.

Lincolnshire Police believe that this man, aged 53, was hit by a vehicle and as yet have not traced this vehicle or the driver.

Now, officers are appealing urgently for anyone who was on the A16 Sibsey Road between Pilleys Lane, just outside Boston, and the Post Office at Sibsey, between the hours of 03.53am and 04.25am.

The force have spoken with the witnesses who found the man, conducted house to house enquiries and are reviewing any CCTV in the area that may have captured the vehicle.

Investigating Officer Detective Sergeant Emma Ward said, “It’s vital that we have all the information available that could help us find the driver and vehicle involved. This is a tragic outcome and our investigation will be meticulous and thorough in order to piece together exactly what has happened, for the man who has lost his life and for his family. So please, if you have any information or potential footage, get in touch.”

Lincolnshire Police are appealing for information after a man was found with serious injuries on the A16 Sibsey Road, Boston, near to Pilgrim Hospital. The force believe this is a pedestrian who has been hit by a vehicle that has not stopped at the scene.

If you were in the area prior to the time this incident was reported (4.30am, Friday 17 October) please contact officers if you have dash cam footage, or if you witnessed anything that might help their investigation.

Diversions remain in place whist specialist officers examine the scene and Lincolnshire Police are continuing to advise people to avoid the area. Pilleys Lane is the Southern diversion, and Willows Lane is the northern diversion.

Original Story – 09:00

Lincolnshire Police have closed a section of the A16 Sibsey Road in Boston this morning following a collision reported just after 4.30am.

The closure is currently in place in the area surrounding Pilgrim Hospital, with officers asking motorists to avoid the area if possible, particularly as traffic is expected to build during rush hour.

Diversions have been set up, with Pilley’s Lane serving as the southern diversion route and Willows Lane as the northern diversion.

Police have confirmed the incident is being dealt with under Incident 47 of today.
