The Boston Stump Restoration Trust, which supports the ongoing restoration of the historic St Botolph’s Church (Boston Stump), is inviting expressions of interest from prospective trustees. Those with an interest in the building, its historic fabric, or with experience of fundraising, architecture, project management or other relevant expertise are encouraged to contact the Chair.

The trustees recently voted to appoint Fr David Stephenson, Rector of Boston, as chair. Fr David takes over from Paul Cooper who had been in the role since 2016.

Trustees thanked Paul for his nine years of service as chair. During this time the trust’s patron, HRH The Princess Royal, made several visits to St Botolph’s, supporting the trust’s major restoration projects. These included flood recovery, restoration of the west face of the tower, reordering of the church’s interior and of the historic parish library. Under Paul’s leadership the trust also supported the redevelopment of the parish’s Blenkin Memorial Hall.

Fr David Stephenson said, “The Restoration Trust has done amazing work to safeguard St Botolph’s for the present and future generations. The Stump is iconic – recognised by so many people – and to be responsible for its upkeep and repair is an awesome task. I really hope that others will want to share this privilege with us. In a building of this scale there is always something which needs doing and we really want to get on and do as much as we can.”

Expressions of interest are invited by email to Fr David Stephenson (david.stephenson@parishofboston.co.uk) or in writing to the trust’s registered address at 1 Wormgate, Boston, PE21 6NP.
