NHS Lincolnshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) has announced the appointment of two new service providers to ensure the continued delivery of essential health and social care services across the county, following the liquidation of NRS Healthcare.
Millbrook Healthcare and Livity Life will take over key service contracts, replacing NRS Healthcare, which had previously delivered equipment and support services to residents with long-term conditions and disabilities.
In a joint move, Lincolnshire County Council and the ICB confirmed that all services affected by the transition will remain operational under the new providers:
- Community Equipment Service: Now managed by Millbrook Healthcare, this service provides equipment loans to adults and children with long-term conditions or disabilities, supporting their health and social care needs at home.
- Wheelchair Service: Also taken over by Millbrook Healthcare, the wheelchair service supports individuals whose mobility is impacted by illness or disability, offering both adult and paediatric provision.
- Telecare Service: Livity Life will now oversee this round-the-clock emergency response and monitoring system, which includes fall detection and automatic alerts to carers, family members, or emergency services.
The change follows winding-up orders made on 1 August 2025 against Nottingham Rehab Limited (trading as NRS Healthcare) and NRS Healthcare Limited. The court appointed Gareth Jonathan Allen, the Official Receiver, as Liquidator. To assist with the process, the court also appointed Mark James Tobias Banfield, Edward Williams, Helen Laura Wheeler-Jones, Adam Seres, and David James Kelly of PwC as Special Managers.
The Official Receiver will wind up the companies in line with his statutory duties, including investigating the reasons for each company’s collapse and the conduct of both current and former directors.
In a statement, the ICB said: “We would like to reassure you that we will continue to support people in the community. There may be some short-term disruption during this transition, but we are working to mitigate the impact. During this period, we will be prioritising support to protect those most impacted by this change.”
Those currently using any of the services will receive written communication in the coming weeks explaining the transition and what it means for them. Priority will be given to the most vulnerable individuals during this period.
Residents are also being urged to remain alert to potential scams during the changeover. Authorities emphasised that no payments will be requested from service users unless they are on a Personal Wheelchair Budget, in which case they may be contacted by Millbrook Healthcare. Existing Telecare Service users who pay via direct debit will only be contacted by Livity Life.
