A two-vehicle collision has led to the closure of Tawney Street and Wide Bargate in Boston this afternoon (Thursday), causing significant disruption to traffic in the town centre.

Emergency services, including Lincolnshire Police and East Midlands Ambulance Service, were called to the scene at the busy four-way junction outside Heron Foods and Coneys, accompanied by security teams from Pescod Square and Boston Shopping Park, who initially delivered first aid and crowd management prior to emergency service attendance.

The incident, which occurred at the height of lunchtime footfall, has caused delays in the local area, with disruption expected throughout the afternoon. Officers are currently managing the scene, and paramedics are assessing those involved.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “We were called to a collision at 11.21 this morning.  Two vehicles have collided at the junction of Pen Street and Tawney Street, a Ford Focus and a Nissan Qashqai.  There are no reports of any injuries. Incident 166.”

Local bus operator, Brylaine Travel have advised commuters using their service that their bus stop has temporarily altered. A spokesperson for the bus operator said: “Unfortunately due to a road traffic incident our B2 is currently unable to serve Bargate. It will be picking up and dropping of at Mad Macs.”

It is unclear when the road will fully reopen.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area and seek alternative routes while the emergency services continue their work.
