A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said:
“A gas leak was reported to us at 14:45 in the Market Place, Swineshead. Emergency services have attended the area and some road closures have been put in place. Gas engineers are on scene also. We’d advise people avoid the area for the time being.

FIRE SERVICE COMMENT - 16:15 - Wednesday 16th July
A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said:
“Three crews from Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue responded to Market Place, Swineshead, following a reported gas leak.
“Firefighters worked quickly to evacuate nearby residents and establish a cordon around the area as a precaution.
“Gas engineers are now on site to resolve the issue, but we advise people to avoid the area for the time being.”

MonAmi Nursery, located on High Street, Swineshead posted on Facebook:
“Road Closure Outside Swineshead Nursery
“We’ve been made aware that builders at the Wheatsheaf opposite the nursery have accidentally hit a gas main. As a result, Swineshead High Street is currently closed directly outside the nursery.
“Access to the nursery is still possible by coming down Church Lane (behind the church).
“We’ve spoken to the police, who are handling the situation and have assured us that everyone inside the building is safe.
“We’ll continue to keep you updated as soon as we know more. Thanks for your patience and understanding.”

Emergency services have evacuated part of Swineshead today following reports of a gas leak in the vicinity of The Wheatsheaf public house.
Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, Lincolnshire Police, and gas engineers from Cadent are currently on the scene, working to isolate the source of the leak and make the area safe. A road closure and cordon have been established around The Wheatsheaf, with no access to vehicles or pedestrians from Church Close, High Street, or South Street.
Swineshead St Mary’s Church of England Primary School issued an urgent statement to parents and the community, confirming:
“URGENT – Gas leak at The Wheatsheaf.
We have just been made aware that there is a gas leak in the village (The Wheatsheaf) and some of the roads be closed.”
Residents and businesses in the immediate area have been asked to evacuate as a precaution.
Cadent has assured the public that engineers are on-site carrying out assessments and repairs, with further updates expected as the situation develops.
