Emergency services were called to a serious incident yesterday after reports of a vehicle leaving the road and entering the South Forty Foot Drain in Boston.

At 10:58am, crews from Boston Fire Station, Kirton Fire Station, and a specialist Swift Water Rescue team from Spalding Fire Station were dispatched to the scene near the junction of Sleaford Road (A52), Wyberton High Bridge, and the A1121 Boardsides.

On arrival, firefighters discovered a large hole in a wooden roadside fence visible from the carriageway, indicating that a vehicle had left the road at speed. Evidence suggests the vehicle crossed nearby rail tracks before damaging the verge of the South Forty Foot Bank and entering the water.

Crews launched a rescue boat and deployed a winch to search the area. After an extensive search operation, it was confirmed that all persons involved were accounted for.

No further details have been released about the condition of any occupants or the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Recovery of the vehicle from the water took plate around 5pm on Sunday.
