Multi-million pound funding is being invested in Boston through a number of transformational projects that will bring long-term and significant benefits for the community.
In its latest annual report, Boston Town Board illustrates how  Boston’s ambitious plans are being realised and are already starting to have an impact.
The new report comes against a background of significant existing and new funding opportunities for Boston and highlights the great progress of the Towns Fund projects which were identified as part of Boston’s Town Deal with government in 2021.
Some of the key milestones and achievements for Boston detailed in the report include:
  • Work getting underway at the Mayflower, the flagship Town Deal project in the town which, when complete, will offer an inspirational learning and community space;
  • Blenkin Memorial Hall thriving as a resource for the community after being officially opened by HRH Princess Anne the Princess Royal;
  • The refurbished library at St Botolph’s attracting interest in the Stump’s historic book collection, and in Boston, from all over the UK;
  • The Centre for Food and Fresh Produce Logistics supporting 84 businesses in Boston to achieve their business goals;
  • Confirmation of further funding which will see the Geoff Moulder Leisure Centre fully refurbished into a modern health and fitness space to meet the needs of local people;
  • Improvements moving forward at Boston Railway Station, including the creation of two small business start-up offices, which are now being marketed for hire, and
  • A number of shop front and public space improvements underway in the town centre with more improvements to follow in 2025.
Boston Town Board will ensure that these projects complement other investment in the town, including the extensive redevelopment of Rosegarth Square which will revitalise an area of the town between the River Witham and the bus station.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Boston Town Board annual report also outlines the significant opportunity still to come through the £20M government funding confirmed for Boston last year. Previously known as the Long Term Plan for Towns funding, the report provides an update on the consultation the board carried out last summer and plans for further engagement  to help shape a plan for this funding.

Jo Brigham, Chair, Boston Town Board said: “We are seeing significant progress across all our projects, with delivery gathering pace and milestones being achieved towards realising our ambitions for the town.

“The huge investment through the Town Deal projects is part of the bigger story of change in Boston, with other multi-million pound funding offering further scope to work together and unlock the town’s undoubted potential.

“Over the coming year, we will continue to ensure these projects deliver for Boston, and we look forward to seeing plans culminate, with the benefits beginning to be felt across the community.

“In 2025, a priority for us will be undertaking further  work to understand local community and business priorities, needs, and aspirations so that we can ensure the funding coming into the town makes a tangible and sustainable difference for the people of Boston.

“I would like to thank everyone who has helped us to reach this point and welcome continued engagement and feedback to ensure that we move forward together and realise the great potential of this town”
Cllr Anne Dorrian, Leader of Boston Borough Council, said: “I am immensely proud of the progress being made in Boston through these transformational projects. The multi-million pound investment is a testament to our commitment to enhancing the quality of life for our residents and unlocking the town’s full potential. These initiatives are not just about infrastructure; they are about building a brighter future for our community. I am excited to see the positive impact these projects will have and I am dedicated to continuing our work to ensure Boston thrives for generations to come.”
