A dispersal order has been authorised by Lincolnshire Police across Boston ahead of Saturday’s National League fixture between Boston United and Scunthorpe United.
The order will be in force from 10am until 10pm on Saturday, 31 October, covering a large area of the town, including Jakemans Stadium, where the two sides are due to meet.
The order has been authorised following concerns that some individuals may be planning to cause disruption during the day.
It gives police officers the power to direct individuals to leave a specified area if they are believed to be contributing, or likely to contribute, to harassment, alarm, distress or crime and disorder.
Anyone who fails to comply with an officer’s direction to leave the area commits an arrestable offence.
The order is intended to help prevent potential disorder and ensure the wider community can enjoy Boston, whether they live in the town or are visiting for the football, without fear of becoming involved in or witnessing disruption.
The fixture is expected to bring supporters of both clubs to Boston for the National League encounter.
