Motorists are being urged to avoid the Swineshead area this evening following a collision involving multiple vehicles which has closed the A1121 Boardsides and A17 at Swineshead Bridge.
Lincolnshire Police are currently at the scene of the collision, which happened on the A1121 Boardsides at its junction with the A17.
Both roads are currently blocked while emergency services deal with the incident, with police warning that the closure is likely to remain in place “for some time”.
Significant delays are already being experienced across the surrounding road network, with traffic reported to be queuing along the A17 towards East Heckington and in the opposite direction towards Bicker Bar.
Drivers travelling between Boston, Sleaford and surrounding villages are being advised to seek alternative routes and allow additional time for their journeys.
In a statement issued on social media, Lincolnshire Police said: “We are currently on scene at a collision involving multiple vehicles on the A1121 Boardsides at the junction of the A17 in Swineshead.
“The road is currently blocked and this is likely to be the case for some time. Please avoid the area if you can.”
The incident is being dealt with under reference 338 of today, Wednesday 2 September.
There is currently no further information regarding any injuries or the circumstances surrounding the collision.
