Several community organisations in Boston are set to benefit from funding through the first round of the Boston Town Area Committee (BTAC) Small Grant Scheme for 2026/27.
BTAC plays an important role in supporting residents living within Boston’s unparished town wards. As no parish or town council covers these areas, BTAC acts as the voice of local residents, representing their views and ensuring that funding is invested in projects and services that directly benefit the community.
Funded through the Special Area Expense Account (SAEA), which is collected alongside Council Tax, BTAC is responsible for a range of services and facilities across the town. These include maintaining parks and open spaces, play areas, public toilets and supporting town events.
The committee also acts as a consultee on major developments affecting the town and awards community grants to local organisations that are helping to improve the lives of residents.
The BTAC Small Grant Scheme is one of the ways the committee invests directly in local communities. The scheme is open to fully constituted Boston-based community groups, charities, Community Interest Companies (CICs) and social enterprises delivering projects that benefit residents living within Boston’s town wards.
Organisations can apply for up to £1,000 towards projects, equipment, activities, venue hire, insurance costs and promotional materials.
Following assessment and consideration by the BTAC Small Grants Working Group, four organisations have been awarded funding in the first round of the scheme.
- Boston Original Band Initiative
- Boston Dancing Witches
- Feathers Teens CIC
- Tonic Health
The funding will support a wide range of community activity, from youth engagement and educational opportunities to arts, culture and community wellbeing initiatives.
The grants reflect BTAC’s ongoing commitment to investing in local people and organisations, helping community groups deliver projects that strengthen neighbourhoods, bring residents together and make a positive difference across Boston’s town wards.
