Boston is preparing to welcome thousands of runners and spectators tomorrow (Sunday 12th April) as the Boston Running Festival returns for one of the town’s biggest annual sporting events.

Excitement has been building across the borough in recent days, with final preparations now complete and organisers ready to deliver a full day of racing, entertainment, and community spirit.

The event will once again see participants take on four different routes, spanning both urban streets and surrounding rural roads. Popular spectator spots are expected to be busy throughout the day, including Frieston Road, Woodthorpe Avenue, Eastwood Road, Priory Road, Butterwick Road, Bennington Road, Highgate, Shore Road, Clampgate Road, Church Green Road, Toot Lane, Kingsway, Fishtoft Road and Skirbeck Road.

Runners will be supported every step of the way, with 12 water stations and portaloos positioned at key locationsacross the course to ensure hydration and comfort.

The full and half marathon races will start from Market Place, placing the heart of Boston at the centre of the action early in the morning. Meanwhile, the 10K and Fun Run will begin in Central Park, offering a more accessible route for families and casual runners.

All races will finish at Boston College, which will act as the main event hub for the day. Here, a vibrant Runners Village and Trade Village will welcome participants and spectators alike, creating a festival atmosphere at the finish line.

A strong line-up of local traders and businesses will be in attendance, including Nik ‘n’ Mix, Over The Moon Bars, Lincs Runners, Nuda Nutrition, Pig and Pastry, Gourmazin, Really Awesome Coffee and Frisky Fudge, offering everything from post-race treats to specialist running support.

Additional support will also be available for runners, including free post-race massages provided by HS Health Group physiotherapists, helping participants recover after crossing the finish line.

Race Director Kay Bonnell said the team is looking forward to delivering another memorable event for the town: “We’re incredibly proud to bring the Boston Running Festival back for another year, and the team has worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure everything is in place for a safe and enjoyable day.

“It’s more than just a race – it’s a celebration of our community. From the runners taking part to the volunteers, local businesses and spectators lining the streets, it really showcases the very best of Boston.

“We’d encourage everyone to come out, support the runners, and enjoy the fantastic atmosphere across the town.”

While the focus remains firmly on the celebrations, motorists are reminded that some disruption will be in place throughout the day, particularly around the town centre and key routes along the course.

Residents and visitors are being encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time for journeys, and, where possible, enjoy the event on foot.

With strong community support, a packed race schedule, and a lively event village awaiting finishers, Boston is set for a fantastic day as the Running Festival takes centre stage once again.
