The redevelopment of the Geoff Moulder Leisure Complex has recently reached a major milestone with the installation of the steel frame that will form the new front extension of the site.

The Boston Leisure Project is a £14.5 million programme of investment funded through the Government’s Levelling Up Partnership and the Boston Town Deal. Once complete, the remodelled facility will reopen as the Boston Leisure Centre, providing a modern, accessible and high‑quality leisure offer for residents and visitors across the borough.

The project includes the creation of a new 1,500sqm frontage and entrance, an improved reception area, updated pool changing village, dedicated fitness changing facilities, and a first‑floor fitness suite, spin studio and multipurpose activity space.

The redevelopment will also introduce a new public plaza, curated by local charity Transported Arts, linking the centre with Boston College’s recently developed Mayflower building, supporting closer connections between leisure, education and wellbeing.

Energy‑efficiency improvements, including upgrades to building systems and insulation, are also being delivered as part of the wider scheme.

The installation of the steel frame marks the beginning of the main construction phase after months of ground and foundation works which have taken place throughout the recent winter months and provides the visible structure for the new extension, signalling strong progress on site.

Construction will continue throughout 2026, with the new leisure and fitness areas expected to open towards the end of the year. Works to the plaza and external areas will follow in early 2027.

Councillor Sarah Sharpe, Portfolio Holder for Heritage, Culture and Tourism, said: “The recent installation of the steel frame is such an important step forward in the Boston Leisure Project and offers a clear indication to residents and visitors of the scale of improvements which are now taking shape down on site.

“This redeveloped leisure centre will be a huge asset to our borough; a facility that supports health, wellbeing and active lifestyles across our community.”
