Motorists in Boston are being advised of upcoming overnight roadworks on John Adams Way, with lane closures set to be in place over several nights next week.

The works will take place between Sunday 23rd March and Thursday 27th March 2026, affecting the section of John Adams Way across Haven Bridge. The closures will be in operation overnight only, between 8pm and 4am, to minimise disruption during peak daytime hours.

The scheme forms part of preparatory investigations for a future waterproofing project on the bridge, with engineers set to carry out a series of trial holes along the carriageway.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire County Council said: “We are carrying out sample taking of this section of the road on Haven Bridge as part of an investigation here for a waterproofing scheme. The lane closure is happening overnight from 8pm until 4am.

“As part of the work we are doing, there will also be a no right turn order in place from John Adams Way onto South End, but we have managed to plan this so that there won’t be a closure of the road.

“A total of 14 trial holes up to 900mm deep will be taken. For holes one to 12, we need to use the overnight plan which will mean single lane closures. Holes 13 and 14 can be done during the daytime with a temporary footpath closure where necessary.”

While the road will remain open throughout the works, drivers should expect single lane closures overnight, along with temporary traffic management measures and the restriction on right turns onto South End.

Residents and motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys during the affected hours and take extra care when travelling through the area.
