Boston Borough Council and the Wyberton Wombles of Boston Common are once again joining forces for a day of community cleaning nicknamed the ‘Big Borough Spring Clean’ on Sunday 22 March from 9am till 12pm.

The event, which will run from 9am till 12pm, forms part of the council’s ongoing partnership with the volunteer Wombles group, which aims to ensure that Boston looks its best as the warmer, spring months approach.

The clean-up will focus on three specific locations across the town:

  • Boston College (Skirbeck Road, Boston, PE21 6JF).
  • The Sidings Medical Practice (14 Sleaford Road, Boston, PE21 8EG).
  • Tunnard Street (Boston, PE21 6PL).

All those who are wishing to volunteer and help with the clean-up will receive personal protective equipment (PPE) and cleaning equipment, provided by Boston Borough Council.

The Big Borough Spring Clean also supports Keep Britain Tidy’s Great British Spring Clean campaign, which runs from Friday 13 March to Sunday 29 March. The national initiative encourages communities across the country to come together and take pride in their local environment, with millions of bags of litter collected since the campaign began in 2016.

Cllr Callum Butler, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services at Boston Borough Council, said: “We’re thrilled to be working alongside the Wyberton Wombles again for another spring clean!

“These annual events ensure our town and surrounding villages are looking their best in time for the warmer, spring months and of course they’re also such a fantastic example of community partnership in action.”

Steve Slater of the Wyberton Wombles added: “We’re excited to bring this Big Borough Spring Clean event back for 2026.

This event is all about making Boston and the surrounding parishes cleaner, greener and more welcoming for everyone. Come and join us – even if it’s just for an hour, every bit truly helps.”
