With support from Boston Borough Council, Boston Colts Football Club has recently succeeded in securing grant funding from the Howdens Game Changer Programme to install a new kitchen facility at the Garfit’s Park pavilion.

The four-figure grant will fund the planning and installation of a new kitchen at the site, including modern units and appliances, as they work to improve the facilities to meet the need of the club’s players, families, supporters and officials.

It builds on the wider ambitions for work at the park, including the creation of personalised facilities displaying the club’s colours and improvements to changing rooms, showers and a mini club house area.

This new investment builds on the council’s agreement with Boston Colts last year, which provided the club with long‑term access to Garfit’s Park and its pavilion, supporting up to ten junior teams and offering vital matchday and training facilities.

The new Howdens‑funded kitchen will significantly enhance the club’s ability to serve refreshments and offer community‑focused activities such as charity coffee mornings and matchday hospitality, initiatives the Colts have already been developing.

Councillor John Baxter, Boston Borough Council portfolio holder for assets and property, said: “This is another great example of what we can achieve when the council and local organisations work in partnership together. It has been fantastic to see the club’s enthusiasm and energy to improve facilities at Garfit’s Park, and to grow grassroots football in Boston more widely.

“Access to quality, fun, social and affordable opportunities to get outdoors and get active is so important to our children and young people, and I can’t wait for work to get underway and to be able to attend a match and enjoy some excellent refreshments from the new facilities.”

Phil Mcallister, Boston Colts FC Chairman, said: “This is another great initiative which we are delighted to have been successful with. The FA, Football Foundation, Howdens and Boston Borough Council have all seen our vision and the hard work going on behind the scenes.

“We have invested massively into maintaining the pitches and it’s great to see local residents message our page asking for fixtures as they like to come and watch. The assistance with a new kitchen will go a long way in providing the facilities our players, players parents, coaches and supporters deserve.”

The upgraded kitchen will be installed later this year, with the Colts continuing to lead the onsite improvements and the council providing support throughout the programme.
