Boston Town have been mounting a clean-up operation after burst water pipes caused flooding at their ground.

They had to postpone their scheduled home fixture against Newark & Sherwood United at the Mortgages For You Stadium.

The pitch was already touch and go because of the recent wintry weather. But flooding in the changing rooms, tunnel and bar areas made it impossible for the game to go ahead.

A club spokesman: “We know this will be disappointing for supporters and both sets of players, but safety has to come first. Huge credit to everyone who is already mucking in behind the scenes to get things back in order.”

No new date has yet been set for the fixture against Newark & Sherwood United.

However, the Poachers’ game at Clay Cross, which had been frozen off the previous week, has now been rearranged for Saturday 21 March.

Boston Town’s next three scheduled games are all at home.

They will entertain Belper United on Saturday 17 January and Ashby Ivanhoe on Saturday 24 January, both in the United Counties League Premier North.

Between those two matches, Boston Town are also at home to Grantham Town on Tuesday 20 January in the semi-final of the Lincs Senior Trophy.

The weekend games kick off at 3pm and the semi-final kicks off at 7.45pm.

Boston Town remain unbeaten in 11 match since losing at Gresley in October.
