Asda Boston recognises the importance of supporting young people in the local community and has announced the launch of the Asda Foundation Young Futures Programme for Healthy Teen Minds which will provide up to £600,000 of support to community groups across the UK to help them deliver activities for teenagers (13-18 years) which improve mental health and wellbeing and create positive life opportunities.

The grants of between £500 to £1,000 are available to not-for-profit community groups, PTAs, grassroots amateur sports clubs, uniformed groups (scouts, guides and cadets) and youth clubs in the area around its Lister Way store.

Stephen Bromby, Asda Boston’s community champion, is looking for applications which support vulnerable, disadvantage teenagers with projects that focus on areas such as offering emotional and mental health support, providing essential hygiene and clothing items, driving awareness of key issues facing teenagers, rehabilitation and recovery and shelter, as well as activities and events that build connections and improve wellbeing and physical health.

Priority will be given to groups who are promoting inclusivity and access to activities for individuals facing barriers to participation, and projects addressing prevalent social issues in the community such as knife crime, ganga, bullying and personal safety.

The application window is open now and groups have the opportunity to gather all the necessary supporting documents and apply directly through the Asda Foundation website before submissions close on 20th January.

All of the details, including criteria and an eligibility checker can be found at https://asdafoundation.org/our-grants/young-futures-fund/

Mr Bromby said: “As an independent charitable foundation funded by Asda, the Asda Foundation supports the small, grassroots groups at the heart of our communities. It aims to empower local groups with the funding they need, exactly where and when they need it. It works closely with Asda community champions to understand the needs of the people living and working locally in the communities surrounding Asda stores and fund vital community projects.

“It’s part of my job to help and offer support and guidance with the group applications, so I’d encourage anyone who is interested to reach out if they need any more information. However, interest in Asda Foundation funding is always high and this grant round may close early if applications exceed the total funding allocated for this grant round.”

To assist groups with the process, full criteria, an eligibility checker and supporting documents are available from the Asda Foundation website https://asdafoundation.org/our-grants/young-futures-fund/
