A car has collided with a well-known hotel and pub in Kirton during the early hours of Christmas Day, causing significant damage to the building.
The incident involved a vehicle driving into the side of The Old Kings Head, leaving hotel guests shaken after being woken by the collision.
Fortunately, it is believed that everyone involved in the incident is safe and no serious injuries have been reported.
In a statement, the venue confirmed that the impact has caused notable structural damage. As a precaution, the hotel and pub will remain closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day while assessments are carried out.
A structural engineer is currently on site to inspect the building and determine the extent of the damage. Subject to the outcome of these checks, the business hopes to reopen as normal on Friday 27 December, with further updates to be provided in due course.
The team at The Old Kings Head has also thanked the local community for their messages of support and offers of help following the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been confirmed.
