Boston United stretched their National League away record to one defeat in seven after coming from behind to draw 1-1 at Woking on Saturday afternoon.

The Pilgrims opened brightly and had chances to take the lead – either side of losing influential skipper Zak Mills to a hamstring injury.

Harry Beautyman blasted the Cards into a 33rd minute lead – which was cancelled out by Liam Waldock’s well-taken first goal in United colours 14 minutes after the break.

With Lincoln City loanee Oisin Gallagher included from the start following his return to the club, it was United’s newest recruit that forced Will Jaaskelainen into a smart fourth minute save.

Olly Sanderson had a seventh minute goal ruled out for offside – and Mills limped off with injury to compound issues for Graham Coughlan, who was missing eight senior players ahead of kick-off.

Frankie Maguire subsequently saw a header brilliantly saved by Jaaskelainen, while Connor Teale’s goalbound drive was repelled at close quarters by the hosts.

Woking took the lead 12 minutes before the break, with BEAUTYMAN finishing at the back post after Aaron Drewe had done well to engineer a crossing opportunity from the right.

Two minutes after seeing a deflected effort loop over the crossbar, WALDOCK produced a crisp finish to draw the Pilgrims level – after United saw two initial efforts blocked.

Maguire fired off target when well-placed, while Josh Kelly and Josh Osude had late chances for the Cards, the second of which rattled Rhys Lovett’s left-hand post.
