October was another busy and productive month both locally and nationally, full of meetings, community events, and campaigning across our constituency and beyond.
We began the month celebrating Lincolnshire Day, and I was delighted to spend it in glorious Skegness, meeting representatives from Haven Holidays before attending Skegness Town Council later that day. It was a pleasure to see first-hand the passion and pride our communities hold for the county.
During the month, I also met with Stephen and Stuart from ASDA, who shared details of their inspiring Tickled Pink campaign raising awareness and funds for breast cancer charities. I joined police officers for a walkabout in both Boston and Skegness town centres, discussing policing priorities and community safety.
October also saw the Boston & Skegness Reform UK branch under the leadership of our newly appointed interim chair, Natalie, I’m thrilled to see renewed energy and commitment across the branch, and I know Natalie and the team will help drive forward our local Reform message. A big thanks to Michael Cheyne for all his work chairing the branch in its first year post election.
Our campaign team was out in full force for the Chapel St Leonards by-election, and I also joined colleagues for a demonstration near Gainsborough, standing with residents against the disastrous Tillbridge Solar Farm, another Net Stupid Zero folly forced through by Mad Ed Miliband with zero consideration for local communities.
A personal highlight of the month was being honoured to present the Business of the Year award to Drayton Motors KIA at the inaugural Best of Boston Awards, brilliantly organised by Boston VIBE. It was a fantastic evening celebrating the hardworking businesses and inspirational individuals who make our town so special.
Nationally, Reform UK’s Action Day, organised by our Party Chairman, Dr David Bull, saw over 1,500 members taking part across the country. Here in Boston & Skegness, Natalie and the local team were out and about all day, from Stickney Car Boot to central Skegness, meeting residents and spreading our message. Meanwhile, Cllr Sean Matthews took part in David’s national livestream while I continued campaigning elsewhere in the country.
It’s also been a privilege to take over as Head of DOGE, following on from Zia Yusuf. We’ve already identified hundreds of millions of pounds in current and future savings across all departments by renegotiating contracts and scrapping wasteful projects, and we’re only just getting started. I’ve also exposed multi-billion-pound overcharging and mismanagement within Local Government Pension Schemes. Unsurprisingly, the vested interests aren’t too happy about that!
Since Parliament reconvened after conference recess on 13th October, I have spoken 13 times in the House of Commons, covering key issues including the Chinese spy case, Lindsey Oil Refinery, Gaza ceasefire, knife crime, the Bank of England, asylum seekers, and the Chagos Islands. I have also submitted three written questions: two to the Department of Health and Social Care, and one to the Treasury.
Finally, I want to pay tribute to my fantastic constituency team, who have once again been working tirelessly for residents. In October alone, they closed over 500 cases and responded to more than 1,400 emails, covering everything from community issues and housing to pensions, education, health services, and of course, the ongoing debate around Net Stupid Zero and digital ID.
October was a month full of action and progress, and as we move into November, I remain focused on standing up for Boston, Skegness, and common-sense politics.
As always, I remain committed to serving the people of Boston and Skegness. If you require assistance, please email richard.tice.mp@parliament.uk. To help us respond quickly, please include your full address and postcode in your message. Please note that I can only assist those who live in or own a business within the constituency.
Until next month,
Richard
