Residents on Marsh Lane, Boston, had their concerns about speeding and antisocial driving addressed in real time last night, after a vehicle was seized by Lincolnshire Police.

PC Winyard was carrying out door-to-door enquiries on an unrelated matter in the area when several residents raised frustrations about the daily nuisance caused by drivers speeding and using vehicles in an antisocial manner.

Almost on cue, a Lexus drove past at speed, its exhaust making loud bangs and pops – perfectly illustrating the concerns residents had just voiced.

PC Winyard quickly located the vehicle and carried out checks, which revealed that the driver had already been issued with a previous warning for antisocial driving. Using Section 59 powers of the Police Reform Act, the Lexus was seized on the spot.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said: “It is crucial that whenever someone gets behind the wheel, they follow the rules of the road – obeying speed limits and driving with care and attention.

“If someone doesn’t adhere to this, they not only put their only lives at risk but those of others in the community.

“It is not acceptable and we won’t hesitate to step in if people ignore the rules.”

The vehicle has now been removed from the road, and officers are encouraging residents to continue reporting antisocial driving through 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
