Yesterday saw the annual Green Dragon, Ciderfest held in the Market Place in Swineshead.
The aim of the day is to bring the community together and help raise funds for the Swineshead Enhancement Society, the village charity that maintains, among other projects, Swineshead in Bloom, Mackays Pit and The Manwarings.
The afternoon was filled with music from Little Skye, and some rather interesting ways of raising funds. The masses had the chance to have a flutter on the outcome of some unusual audience participation games.
These included ‘The Jelly Toss’, Shirty Work’ and one of the crowd favourites “Sausage Roll’.
The last, to give you an idea, a partner laid on the floor with a jumbo sausage roll on their ankles, their partner had to roll the sausage roll up their body and into their mouth, using only their noses.
The many varieties of Cider on offer added to the overall joyful atmosphere of the afternoon, and the day ended up in an impromptu open mic session where everyone joined in singing some crowd favourites.
The Green Dragon team would like to thank everyone who came along to support the event, and make it such a wonderful day. The total raised for the charity is yet to be confirmed but could reach up to £500 which will really help the Society to continue their great work for the village.
