One of Boston’s most well-known nightlife venues has moved to quash rumours it is on the brink of closing.
Browns, located in the former Indian Queen public house on Dolphin Lane, has been a cornerstone of the town’s weekend entertainment for nearly a decade. The venue opens its doors on Friday and Saturday nights, offering locals and visitors a place to dance, enjoy live DJ sets, and sip on an array of colourful cocktails.
Responding to claims circulating locally that Browns was about to shut down, the venue issued a playful but firm denial.
“According to various sources around town we’re closing — HA HA! LOL!,” a spokesperson said. “Love us or hate us, we’re here to stay!”
Browns will celebrate its 10th anniversary this November with a weekend of special events, including free cocktails for all customers and drinks at 2015 prices. The team says it will be a “thank you” to everyone who has supported them since opening in 2015.
Browns has recently expanded its brand by opening a second site in Grantham. The new venue has taken over the former Eden Winebar and Restaurant, bringing the same party atmosphere, cocktails, and music that Boston regulars have come to love.
Over the past decade, Browns has hosted resident DJs playing party classics, chart hits, pop and dance tracks, alongside themed nights, giveaways, holiday competitions, and regular drinks promotions. The club has been the backdrop to countless celebrations, from birthdays and weddings to festive gatherings and spontaneous nights out, creating what staff describe as “unforgettable memories” for their customers.
The venue prides itself on offering a fun and welcoming atmosphere, with staff aiming to “add some happiness in what has become difficult times in the UK” and help customers “put the troubles of the week behind them with a cocktail or two.”
Looking ahead, Browns also confirmed plans for a refit, with final details now being agreed. Some areas may be temporarily restricted while work is carried out, but management say the upgrades will further enhance the club experience.
As the statement concluded: “We’ve enjoyed meeting amazing people and making unforgettable memories over the years. Life is for living — party on! See you on the dancefloor.”
