Motorists in Boston are being warned to expect overnight closures on Fydell Street from this evening (Monday) until Wednesday, August 13, as National Grid carries out essential maintenance works to the town’s electricity network.
The works will affect the stretch of Fydell Street between Carlton Road and Lister Way, with the road fully closed each night from 7pm until 6am the following morning.
A formal diversion route will be in place, directing drivers via Brothertoft Road and/or Carlton Road, Sleaford Road, and Lister Way. These routes will be clearly signposted, but motorists are being urged to allow additional time for their journeys.
National Grid says the planned maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard the electricity supply for homes and businesses in Boston. By carrying out the work overnight, the company hopes to minimise disruption during peak daytime hours.
A National Grid Electricity Distribution spokesperson said: “We’re carrying out essential reinforcement work in Fydell Street to improve the resilience and reliability of Boston’s electricity supply.
“We’d like to thank the local community for their patience as we carry out the work, which will help to meet new and future demand for electricity as we support the energy transition and drive economic growth.”
Local businesses along Fydell Street will remain accessible outside the closure times, and emergency services will be given access if required.
Residents and road users are encouraged to plan ahead and check the latest traffic updates to avoid unnecessary delays.
