Drivers and residents are being urged to plan ahead as overnight lane closures will be in place on one of Boston’s busiest roads from this evening, to allow for important cleaning and maintenance works.

From Monday 28th July through to Friday 1st August, John Adams Way will see intermittent lane closures between 8:00pm and 6:00am each evening. Although the official closures will take effect from 8:00pm, motorists should be aware that traffic cones and signage will begin being set out from 6:30pm, which may cause some early disruption to evening journeys.

The works are part of a joint initiative between Boston Borough Council and Lincolnshire County Council, aimed at improving the overall appearance, safety, and functionality of this key route through the town.

Throughout the week, teams will be carrying out a range of tasks including weed and vegetation removal from kerb edges and central reservations, clearing drains and gullies to improve surface water drainage and prevent future flooding issues, and replacing any broken drain lids to ensure road safety. Overgrown hedges and foliage that may obstruct visibility or pedestrian access will be cut back, while the road surface will undergo a full mechanical sweep to remove debris. Additionally, litter picking will take place along the entire route to enhance the environment for both motorists and pedestrians.

This proactive maintenance programme is part of a wider push to improve Boston’s infrastructure and create a cleaner, more welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and businesses.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys during the affected hours and to follow any temporary traffic management signs and directions given by on-site crews.
