Firefighters remain at the scene of a major blaze this morning at the Lincolnshire Firewood depot on Rowdyke Road, Wyberton.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue were first called to the scene at approximately 3:30am, with over 10 fire appliances now confirmed to be in attendance, alongside the Fire Service Welfare Unit. Due to the scale of the incident, a High Volume Pump (HVP) is being used to draw water from a watercourse approximately two miles away.

Thick smoke has been visible across parts of Wyberton and Boston, prompting a renewed appeal for residents to keep windows and doors closed. Emergency services are also urging people to avoid the area entirely, with road closures in place for public safety.

In a statement issued at 6:30am, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said:

“We still have a large number of appliances in attendance at the below incident. Please continue to avoid the area, and local residents are advised to continue to keep doors and windows closed.”

There are currently no confirmed reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The firewood depot, known for supplying logs and kindling across the county, is understood to have suffered extensive damage.

Motorists are advised to check travel routes and expect disruptions in the Rowdyke Road area throughout the morning.

Further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
