A popular Boston martial arts gym has been left reeling after a break-in late Friday night saw thieves steal valuable and sentimental items.
Chang Phueak Gym, Lincolnshire’s only dedicated Muay Thai gym, located inside the historic Shodfriars Hall, was targeted after closing on Friday. The gym is owned and run by JJ Hasell, a well-known figure in the local and national Muay Thai scene.
Posting online following the incident, JJ shared that among the stolen items were irreplaceable personal belongings and newly stocked training equipment.
“Unfortunately, the gym was burgled after we closed Friday night,” JJ wrote. “Some things stolen are easy to spot and of sentimental value to us – including my English title belt, our turtles mascot, and a bunch of brand new SIBIGA boxing gear from our shop. Various bags were also taken, some belonging to the gym, some personal.”
Images of the stolen items have been posted on social media, with the gym urging the community to keep an eye out and report anything suspicious.
“As we are the only Muay Thai gym in the area, this isn’t everyday stuff – it should stand out,” JJ added. “We’re still trying to work out everything that’s missing, but any help would be much appreciated.”
Lincolnshire Police are believed to be investigating the incident, however hadn’t provided any statement at time of publication. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact authorities or reach out to Chang Phueak Gym directly.
The break-in has shocked the gym’s loyal community of members and supporters, who have rallied online to share the appeal and offer support.
If you see any suspicious Muay Thai equipment being sold locally, or recognise any of the stolen items, please report it.
