The cause of a fire which closed off access to Boston Market Place on Monday night to pedestrians and vehicles has been identified following through investigations.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue crews from Boston, Kirton and Leverton were joined by an Aerial Ladder Platform, also from Boston around 7pm on Monday evening following reports of a fire in a commercial property on South Street.

The blaze caused severe fire damage to approximately 8m x 12m of roofing of Town and Country Mobility, near to Boots.

Crews used breathing apparatus, 2 hose reels and small tools to extinguish the blaze, which has since been identified as being caused by residual heat following prior works with a blow torch.

The shop adjoining ours had a roof fire yesterday and has caused a lot of smoke damage to our shop. We are awaiting inspections and obviously have a lot of cleaning up to do, so please bare with us.”
