East Midlands Railway (EMR) has announced a replacement bus service between Boston and Sleaford following a signalling fault near Hubberts Bridge. The fault, which occurred earlier today, has disrupted normal train services along the route, affecting commuters and passengers traveling between the two towns.
The replacement bus service is now in operation, with buses scheduled to run regularly between Boston and Sleaford until the signalling issue is resolved. EMR is urging passengers to allow extra time for their journey as the buses will take longer than usual train services.
A spokesperson for East Midlands Railway said: “There is a fault with the signalling system at Hubberts Bridge. This is between Boston and Sleaford and is disrupting our trains on the Nottingham/Grantham/Skegness route. Network Rail are on site, investigating the fault. They have resolved one of the three signal faults, the estimate for the line reopening will be 16:00.
Trains will be unable to run in both directions between Sleaford and Boston, our trains will run only between Nottingham & Sleaford and Boston & Skegness. We have arranged road transport to run between Sleaford & Boston in both directions.”
Passengers are advised to check the latest travel updates on the East Midlands Railway website or through their customer service line to stay informed about any changes to the bus schedule.
A Network Rail spokesperson said: “We are sorry to passengers who are impacted by a fault with our signalling systems in Boston.
“Our teams are working hard to get the issue fixed as quickly as possible. We are advising passengers to check National Rail Enquiries before setting off on their journey.”
EMR also recommended that passengers keep their tickets and travel cards with them when using the replacement bus service, as they will be valid for the bus journey.
