A much-changed Boston United side succumbed to defeat at Maidenhead United on the final day, with the hosts relegated despite their victory.
Shawn McCoulsky struck either side of half-time to put the Magpies in control and Tristan Abrahams wrapped up victory in stoppage time.
Boston, with six changes to their side ahead of kick-off, finished 19th while Maidenhead went down alongside Dagenham & Redbridge, with Wealdstone escaping the drop in dramatic fashion.
Mitch Roberts was back in action for the first time since September, while Olly Green was handed his first start in United colours.
Early exchanges were even, with Jimmy Knowles seeing a shot blocked by Remy Clerima and Greg Sloggett heading over the bar from a Noah Wadsworth cross. McCoulsky then saw an effort charged behind by Jacob Scott.
Maidenhead took a 32nd minute lead when Reece Smith crossed from the left and McCOULSKY headed past Cameron Gregory from close-range.
The Pilgrims made one half-time change, with three more following 10 minutes later, but they struggled to make headway against a home side requiring victory to have any chance of staying up.
Scott miscontrolled and subsequently fouled Smith, with McCOULSKY beating Gregory from the spot in the 66th minute.
McCoulsky, the Magpies’ top scorer, wasted two further chances to complete his hat-trick and the hosts were indebted to a retreating Will De Havilland for blocking on the line to deny Keaton Ward.
Substitute ABRAHAMS ran through in stoppage time to add a third – but Maidenhead’s survival fight was lost as the Pilgrims were able to celebrate their own great escape with 850 travelling fans.
